Hop Against Homo-, Bi-, and Transphobia

Today I’m over at Tempeste O’Riley’s blog talking about our youth.

First off, I’d like to say a huge thank you to the coordinators and all the authors and bloggers participating in this years Hop! Tempe has been kind enough to allow me a day on her blog to join in the Hop, so thanks.

Youth suffer in silence so often; either due to fear, confusion, or abuse. So many of the youth that are homeless across this and many other countries are LGBTQ, because it was too horrible to stay in the abusive home, or because that home… the parents that should love unconditionally, threw them out for not being what they wanted them to be.

How Fast To Love? ~ Romancing the Hop

Romance is a special, complicated topic for many. I personally love reading romance stories (and writing them too, lol). One thing that I have heard a lot, and have always found to be rather annoying, is that it’s “too easy” for the couple or that they “fall too fast” for it to be real.

Well, in some cases I would have to agree, in others. . . not so much. You see, my maternal grandparents didn’t meet until they were fully grown and had jobs and lives of their own. And they were 13 years different in age. She was 30 so it’s not like he robbed the cradle, guys. . . relax Winking smile But from first ‘date’ to wedding was only like 4 months or so and no, the baby didn’t come along for almost 5 years.

So do I believe in quick love? Yes!

Do I think a couple has to ‘match’ to make it work? No!

They stayed together ‘til the day my Mimi passed. She had MS so there was a lot of issues they had to overcome throughout their marriage, but my Grandy truly loved her, and thought nothing of the extra care (she still walked and such so it wasn’t that kind of care).

But, watching them as a child made me believe that with the right person, anything was possible and that there was no such thing as too fast. If it was right for the heart, then time meant nothing.

So what do I think about romance and romance books? Bring ‘em on! How fast they fall isn’t an issue. What matters is the heart, the willing to overcome any obstacle for the one you love, and hey. . . if there’s a sexy guy involved, all the better Open-mouthed smile

Anya Millar had no memory of her life or an instruction manual on how to navigate the insane world of humans, biting, and reality. Instead, Anya has had to learn to navigate the world of love, life, and sanity while avoiding those that would see her dead or enslaved.

This is the ongoing journey of Anya and Nicholas, human loving vampires and the human they love, Declán. What makes it all more complicated is that they are abominations in their own world and Declán is a natural born vampire hunter called a Guardian.

Anya must come to terms with who she is and her missing past, Nicholas must win back the object of his eternal love while dealing with new cravings in his silent heart, and Declán must learn to destroy the very creatures that he has unequivocally given his heart and blood.
