High school English teacher Skyler Foxe finally hooks up with gorgeous assistant football coach Keith Fletcher.

But is the man what he seems to be? Skyler still has his doubts when he spies Keith in some shady circumstances. And there are still some unanswered questions as to what exactly is going on at the high school. Who thought high school could be so sinister?

Meanwhile, Skyler’s friends from college have their own problems. Lovers and partners, Evan and Jeff were kicked out of the Army for Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, and the depressed Evan is found dead. Suicide, says the police, but Skyler thinks otherwise. It’s Skyler Foxe on the hunt for a killer once more!

My Thoughts

Foxe Hunt (Skyler Foxe Mysteries #2) is one of the most addictive series I’ve read in a long time. I just love the flawed hero of the stories, Skyler. He’s not your typical murder mystery solving hero, not by any means but even when he’s being annoying and dense – yes, even the great gay teacher Skyler is a twit at times – he more than makes up for it with heart.

The story lines with the teens that he directly works with is a definitely wonderful this for both the kids and him. You see, while Skyler is strong and out in so many ways, he’s not in others and is terrified of losing his job due to his orientation. I can sympathize with this fear as I’ve seen loss played out from such things where the employee did nothing wrong but management decided to get ‘creative’ to find a reason to fire the gay employee. So while I hate his weakness, I find it a very human and normal flaw that he has to work through.

The growth of his little student support group is awesome! Some times teens are the scared, weak (as in fearful not pathetic) children that need to be protected and sometimes they get stubborn and tell the prejudiced world to go to…. And that’s what Rick, Alex, Heather, and Amber did. Between the Gay Straight Alliance at school and finding ways to protect the boys you have to just love ‘em. Oh, and lest we forget the SFC – just love it – they are back and in true form, just not an always useful, supportive, form, lol. Never let your hope-to-be-boyfriend meet your exes without putting muzzles on them first… just sayin’ 😉 Oh, an I so think the no dating within the club rule needs to G. O.

There is an issue of DADT, murder, bashing / hate, and – GASP – Skyler D. A. T. I. N. G! Yes, even the great Skyler succumbs to the idea of dating and love. I was so excited to see how the attempted romance played out that I reread the book before reviewing just to make sure I got to enjoy every part 😉 I just can’t wait for book #3 (Out Foxed), to find out how Skyler deals with the freaky mysteries around Keith and the High School, and to see how she wraps up the trilogy. I truly hope that Ms. Walsh will decide to grace us with Skyler in other adventures beyond this three book story arc – which she has alluded to possibly doing (hope hope hope).

I truly enjoyed the story, the romance, and watching Skyler grow and mature as a man. I continue to love this series thanks to the writing, plot, and wonderful characters. They are real with real issues, lives, and fears, something often glossed over or missing in other series. Skyler is someone you could actually meet, just as he is in the story, at the store, club, or classroom. If you are looking for something hot, steamy, cute, an funny (yes, all those can go together, promise) then please check out Foxe Tail and find out just why Skyler is one of my all time favourite M/M romance hero.

The cast is wonderful, the writing engaging, and the story keeps you guessing and panting throughout! Wash is a fav author that manages to weave a fun, yet painful at times, story that leaves you begging for the next book – Out Foxed – and rooting for Skyler and his whole crew, adult and teen alike. A full five book drops for Skyler and Haley Walsh!
