When Rory Ó Cuinn, a Sidhe warrior, is sent by the Sidhe Queen’s Council to reestablish the magically enhanced vampire hunters known as Guardians, he doesn’t question his mission.

Lord Lorccán is a rare vampire noble, as he only kills humans who are far more monster than not. When he meets the enigmatic vampire Mistress Anya from the House Millar, he believes he’s found an ally in creating a warrior class to police the vampires and protect the innocent—human and vampire alike.

The two goals bring Rory and Lor together, in more ways than one. But Sidhe nobles aren’t meant to love the damned and Rory fights against a rising attraction for Lor, just as Lor pushes every one of Rory’s buttons—mostly on purpose.

When they team up, using both their magics and knowledge, to save those that matter most and find possible future Guardians, their predesigned realities and perceptions change and twist. As love, hate, passion, and betrayal collide, the only question left is which emotions the pair will grasp and hold.

Excerpt

I gently squeezed the hand that still held mine. “Lorccán, could we adjourn to the study? I want to spend more time getting to know my charge and hopefully I can then figure out the strange reaction you both have had to the vampire girl.”

“I already told you, Piscín, my home is yours. The study would be fine, as long as Dec doesn’t mind.”

“No, I’m game.”

We stood and headed to the study where I had spent most of the day before.

“Oh, hey. You do realise that there’s no one here to yell at us for acting up?” Declán suddenly chirped, grinning from ear to ear at Lorccán, as they proceeded me into the study.

The growl that suddenly burst from Lorccán was frightening. All at once he turned and pounced at Declán. Dec spun with amazing speed for a human and managed to use Lor’s strength and weight against him. When they landed, Declán was on top, attempting to pin Lor’s hands to the floor.

Before I thought about it, I had silver blades in hand and surged forward to protect Declán. Dec suddenly shifted from straddling Lorccán to crouching over him protectively, his own blades suddenly appearing in hand. “Stop! Put your blades down now, Rory! Don’t make me have to fight you, please. I will if you push.”

I stopped to process Declán’s words against what I’d just witnessed. “But, he attacked you!” I countered. “Why are you protecting him?”

“He was not attacking me. Rory, he was reacting to what I’d said. Now, put your blades away. I don’t wish to fight you, but I will not allow you to harm Lor.”

Lorccán had gone still as only a vampire could, eyes wide with disbelief. “I would not attack Declán. You misunderstand. We were playing. We found out the first time we met that he without his blades, and me without my fangs and power, are actually pretty closely matched. Anya found it amusing, but his husband always becomes upset; convinced I’m either incapable of control or trying to seduce the lad. Nicholas is far too possessive and jealous for us to play or practise if he’s nearby.”

Looking back and forth between the two, Declán had not moved from his defencive stance over Lorccán yet, I tried again, “But the growl. The surprise attack. But—”

“Why would I defend him if he was attacking me?” Declán interrupted.

“I don’t know, but as you serve vampires and a House, mate with vampires, even guard them at council meetings…how would I know why you would protect a creature that was attacking you?”

Lorccán’s face crumpled at my words. He went from a look of disbelief to one of hurt in an instant, then turned away from me. Reaching up to shift himself from under Declán, he murmured barely above a whisper, “Creature? You truly believe I would try to kill Dec? I know you’ve only known me a couple of days but—” Shaking his head he stood with such swift motion, I froze.

“Declán, you are more than capable of educating your trainer in how things are for you. You do not actually need me here for this. I will speak with you later.”

“Lor,” Declán said as he grabbed Lorccán’s arm. “He doesn’t understand yet. He’ll learn to see you like we do.”

Lorccán gave a tight nod, then was gone.

Life is unstable…

…What will be the trigger to dismantle it?

When high school senior Evangeline "Evan" Phillips moves half way across the country with her parents to a quaint town in Texas, it should be a chance to start over.

It should be.

Typical of Evan, she doesn’t share her parents’ optimism. Always the loner, she is prepared to hide behind work at the school newspaper until graduation. That is the seemingly bulletproof plan until she meets her new neighbors, Gavin and Brody Ferguson. The more Evan gets to know her neighbors, their band of friends, and frenemies, the more unsettling her new high school and community gets in Braxton Springs, Texas.

As Evan unwittingly digs deeper into the lives of those around her, her own skeletons begin to surface leaving her vulnerable and scrambling to keep her own sanity and reputation. Will Evan be able to get control over her spiraling secrets while discovering friendship and love for the first time?

Or will the issues and pressures of life as a band of not-so-average teens in a very typical high school become too much, resulting in the tragic dismantlement of an entire community and Evan herself?

Dismantling Evan is a fresh and edgy work of literary fiction that snapshots how life as a teen in modern society can be unstable and the social issues and pressures revolving around them can tip the fleeting stability of society over the edge.

Enjoy an excerpt:

Men are brilliantly stupid.

For one thing, guys carry the most cash with them anywhere. Didn’t anyone ever tell them cash was dead?

I nestled myself in one of the side branches of Citadel Mall. I picked my way through a Claire’s but the lights were too bright reflecting off the sparkling plastic and crystals of the teeny bopper jewelry and handbags. I ducked into a shoe store where the lighting was dimmer and the window wasn’t as obstructed. Waiting was the hardest part.

My favorite place to find dumb guys with lots of cash was the mall. Always fairly crowded on a weekend; I could count on at least a couple of twenties for every wallet I temporarily borrowed.

I never kept all of it. Forty to sixty dollars at the most. Not enough to bother reporting to the cops. I didn’t mess with credit cards, or bother with selling ID cards. That’s the kind of crazy stuff that gets you sent to prison. I always left the wallets and the rest of the leftovers tucked away in the food court and on benches where management would see it and find the owner. That way, the people wouldn’t have to get new ID, which is a huge hassle.

And they never suspected a thing. All they saw when I accidentally bumped into them was batting eyelashes and as much cleavage as I could muster the absurdity to expose without dry heaving.

M. Leanne Phoenix: Breath of Life

Bio: M. LeAnne Phoenix would tell you that the worst time of her life was the two years that she attempted to take off from writing. If you asked her to explain exactly why she did such a thing, you would most likely get the mad attempt to arch an eyebrow like her dad and then a shake of the head as she told you it was unlucky to speak of such things. Suffice it to say, it will never happen again! Born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas in the mid-1970’s, Ms. Phoenix was young and wild (and even free!) during the crazy wondrous decade known as the 1980’s and the even crazier but now grungy decade of the 1990’s. Music is second only to the muses that live and breathe to fill her mind with beautiful men, and music always helps them to tell their stories. She is never without her iPod or her computer no matter where she goes, although, she does like to hike and take pictures of the sky and the moon, and even the occasional shot of the sun through the branches of a tree. An avid cat lover, Ms. Phoenix has been owned by many throughout her life, though her current owner is one Lily-Rose, who really would like for her to step away from the keyboard and pay her some attention! After all, hasn’t she earned it?

Blurb:  Christian Zobal is somewhat of a jack of all trades: college student, sometimes model, a barista, and accidental lead singer of a band… all in sunny Southern California. The night before a show, he meets enigmatic Jasper Gunnarson. After the performance, and some fantastic news, Christian is viciously attacked in the parking lot… and beautiful Jasper finds him. Christian is unconscious for two days, but when he wakes, his dads help him to understand that they’re okay with whomever it is he wants to be. Christian struggles to find his purchase on life, to come to terms with what happened to him… and Jasper helps Christian remember how to breathe, how to live…

Kameron Mitchell:  All The Wrong Numbers

He is surviving by his loving parents and his 19-going-on-9 roommates. His contribution to the Hope and Love Anthology, All The Wrong Numbers, is his first published story.

Blurb: To the naked eye, it would seem that Ivan Sheckherd will make the perfect son; finish school with honors, get his degree, find a wife, and have two-point-five kids. And if his father had his way, that’s exactly what would happen. The plan doesn’t seem as sweet once Ivan calls the suicide hotline, hoping for a little conversation, but instead finds something he didn’t know he was looking for: himself.

Marcus Maichle: Forte’

Bio: Marcus Maichle is a volunteer at the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center and sang with the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus for 4 years. He enjoys sci-fi and fantasy role playing games, especially writing and running his own adventure modules.

Donovan Alekzander Crane:  Camp Kennevan

Bio:  Donovan Crane grew up all over, his father being a rolling stone of sorts. A self-professed geek, Donovan loves role playing games, thinking games, reading, writing, and his family. He’s recently delved into writing M/m romance and is happily addicted to all genres he can get his hands on. He loves nothing better than a good book, a cool evening in which to enjoy it, and a nice rain storm to accent it all.

Blurb: When Scott and Shane meet at Camp Kennevan as counselors, sparks fly, but neither man is sure of the other. As the weeks pass though, they find their hearts opening and love taking root. But will their affair end when camp does, or do they have what it takes to make a camp romance, last a lifetime?

MaryLynn Bast grew up in Texas. An avid reader, she enjoyed writing romantic short stories. After moving to Las Vegas in 201o and starting a new chapter in her life, she followed her dream of publishing her first book, a paranormal romance, in 2012 and continues to write stories for the Heart of a Wolf Series. She is branching out and beginning the Panther Pride Saga. A few other stories are in the works as well.

MaryLynn is a full time author and a full time student working on her Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design. Working with several different companies who did government contracts for the US Military, MaryLynn was able to travel the world, meeting new and interesting people.

To further her knowledge into the paranormal world, MaryLynn joined a group in Vegas. In doing so, another passion was brought back to life. Her fascination with the spirit world inspired her to team up with a colleague. Forming CAT Parapsychic, together and with other team members, they investigate all things paranormal.

MaryLynn has several blogs she keeps updated on a regular basis. Her book blog can be found at www.mlbast.com. Her Paranormal blog can be found at http://www.catparapsychic.com.
