Ice slid down the mountainside on the ground she’d frozen beneath her feet and came to a stop at a crossroads. The road to her left led to another town. She could see the spires of buildings not too far away and people riding or walking toward them. Or, she turned to face the road in front of her, she could continue on her current course until she came to another town or another crossroads. She’d wandered the world for centuries searching for her people, a race of elementals, or a place to settle, only to find sooner or later something forced her to leave, by her own will or that of others.

It had been awhile since she’d been around people for any length of time, and it would be nice to stop and have a little company, even if only for a day. The temperature of this land seemed moderate, neither too hot nor too cold. If she stayed long enough, that would change. The wind shifted and the salty scent of the sea reached her from the direction of the town.

Arch had left the others back at the boarding house. He didn’t want to draw any more attention to himself than necessary. Even if he kept a low profile, he knew sooner or later, mostly sooner, his father’s goons would catch up to him. He’d lost track of how long he’d been running, fighting and running again to keep the demons at bay. With each one he killed, it took him one step closer to what his father wanted him to be. A clone of himself. Damn it all, he didn’t choose to be a prince of hells. His birth, not his doing.

His father, Abadone, didn’t rule the realms as the devil’s right hand because he was a fucking nice guy. He expected, demanded, his son to follow in those footsteps. Not gonna happen.

Yet, with each kill of one of the guardians Abadone sent after him, Arch took on the dark powers they possessed within himself, from the souls he defeated.

Bride of Demons

Wise woman, witch and succubus, lady of darkness,

Call your lover.

Stand skyclad, in the night,

Your flesh, wantonly revealed, without cover.

Hear the cries, the gales that now do howl,

Sounds of relentless evil.

Rocks near the shore, struck by the relentless waves,

Voice of the most cruel devil.

Will you carry the child, the Antichrist;

With whom did you lie?

End times, they do come, cities of men shall burn,

All will whither, all will die.

Nan is an ancient Kingdom, and still has its royal family. Many of its people have a few drops of the old royal blood. The kings and magnates had many wives and concubines – over the centuries.

Even now, Nan is remote and hard to reach. The people until recently took their laundry to the banks of the River Nan.

Only recently was it incorporated as a province of Thailand. Jerome and his two ladies were recently on vacation in Nan. A dear friend, Kathy, escorted us to the fine museum and art gallery of the town.

Remote – the lost kingdom remains as it ever was lost in the hills and unknown to the world.

In the remote regions the Hill Tribes eke out a living. The children have little chance of an education or escape. The Siamese view them with disdain – as they do much of the rest of the  world!

Dark Kings #2

Night’s Awakening ~

Meet the hero ~

Guy

Guy is wholly unprepared for his life to be shaken to its very core when he saves a woman who has trespassed onto their land and decided to go caving in their mountain. While everyone else is worried what she might have seen, Guy is more concerned with the way he can’t stay away from Elena or her very tempting lips.

Never once has he turned his back on his fellow Dragon Kings, but for Elena he would do anything just to keep her near him. Even if it meant going against everything it was to be a King.

Dragon Color:     Red

Power:               Erase Memories

Favored Region:  Desert

Night’s Awakening

Fueled by dragon magic, the dark immortal warriors were never meant to feel human desire, much less fall in love. But when Guy, a member of an ancient order of shape-shifting warriors, meets Elena Griffin—a mere mortal whose beauty and blind ambition shakes him to his core—all bets are off…

Having left America to explore the Scottish Highlands, Elena suddenly finds herself lost in a dark cave—alone, injured, and utterly hopelessuntil Guy appears from out of nowhere. Is she dreaming her own rescue when she falls into his arms? A man—and a passion—this strong is too good to be true. It’s only a matter a time before she learns the truth about the flames in his heart. And the dragon in his soul…

Read a snippet from Night’s Awakening ~~

Elena couldn’t stop looking at the three men, but most especially Guy. They were tall, and all incredibly handsome. Even the surly one, Banan.

But Guy was different. Whereas Rhys was quick to talk and was at ease, Guy watched her beneath hooded eyes, his gaze intense and . . . hungry.

It’s the only word she could come up with. And it hit her like a freight train. It left her breathless and wanting.

Yet, she knew each time those amazing pale brown eyes of his turned to her—because her stomach would quiver and goose bumps rose all along her skin.

It was as if she was attuned to Guy on a level she hadn’t known was possible. She briefly thought about asking him why he watched her so, which was odd behavior for her. She wasn’t aggressive with guys. It must be the shock and pain of Sloan’s death that was making her see—and feel—things most likely not there.

Elena snapped on her helmet. She was determined to walk on her own as best she could, but before she put her weight on her left leg, she looked at Guy.

His honey brown hair was left long, just grazing his shoulders, and it framed his face so that he looked rugged and lethal at the same time.

He had the square jaw and chin that would make any woman swoon. Combined with his wide, slightly full lips, he was a head turner for sure.

But for Elena, it was his eyes – soft brown and ringed in black – that got her attention. The same pale brown brows slashed over those powerful wide eyes of his. She was gazing deep into those eyes, captured by their uniqueness, and forgot about her injury. She put all her weight on her injured leg.

Elena cut off a gasp of pain and reached for the wall to support her. Instead, it was an incredibly rock-hard body that slid against her. Guy’s arm tightened about her as she leaned against him, and for a moment she pretended it was just the two of them.

Hot Fusion

After fleeing her hometown years ago, Kara Sinclair has returned to breathe life back into the bakery her deceased grandmother left behind. She has a history in this town—one that involves her one true love. A boy she’d thought she’d give her life to before circumstance got in the way. She needs to focus on her task, but one look at Maxwell Stone and all the old feelings return. And it isn’t long before she can think of nothing else but reigniting the passion they once shared.

Max never understood what drove Kara away all those years ago, and once she returns to their Canadian hometown, he’s hell bent on getting her back into his life…and his bed. But when he uncovers the reason she left him behind, he must decide if he can move on from the past and trust his heart with the only woman he’s ever loved.

Excerpt ~

The afternoon slipped leisurely by and Kara enjoyed a mellow languor she hadn’t experienced in such a long time. Sure, it was the wine and the company, but this little bit of patio time in her hometown was the best medicine.

Max ordered a scrumptious antipasto plate and slid his chair around the table beside her so they could share. Their knees touched, sending little shock waves of desire along her nerve endings to settle between her thighs, keeping her arousal at a nice, pleasant hum. She didn’t move her leg and neither did he. Their connection continued to grow like a live wire sparking between them. She wondered if he was as turned-on as she. And when he glanced at her over the rim of his glass, she knew. The look in his eyes that drove her to distraction as a ripe teenage girl reflected in his gaze now. A little shiver of delight ran down her spine.

She kept glancing at him over the plate of food, unable to take her eyes off him. They had since moved to a nice Pinot Grigio rather than the ice wine and both glasses now sat empty, begging to be filled. She wondered if it was wise to order more. But she longed to continue sitting here with him, sipping wine, people watching and being enveloped in the intoxicating scent of Max and the flowers. Kara was captivated by him all over again.

He draped his arm across the back of her chair in a casual movement and her heart did a little jump when his thumb stroked her bare shoulder. The air between them fairly crackled and she decided the decision had been taken from her. She’d stay. Here, with him, and let jazzy tunes from the hidden speakers wrap them in anonymity.

“So, you liked the wine, eh?”

“Yes, it was very nice. I should do a sweets night featuring your ice wine.”

“I like that idea.”

“Good.” Kara needed to bring something important up but didn’t know how, and was afraid it would shatter the fragile ease that was developing between them. But she had to for her own peace of mine.

“Max. A-are you still marr…” He shook his head and Kara let the word trail away. Relief flooded through her and she didn’t want to press it further right now, or know the reasons he was now single. Time for that later. The fact he was no longer married was all she needed to know.

He gazed at her intently and raised his eyebrows. “Do you want to know why?”

This time Kara shook her head and wagged her finger back and forth. “Not really. At least right now. I just needed to know your, um, situation.”

He sat back and smiled. “Don’t want be the other woman, eh?”

Kara laughed and covered her mouth with her hand, a little embarrassed. “No, definitely not on my bucket list!” She also felt a little ashamed being so thrilled by the news he wasn’t married. Divorce was never easy.

The rest of the afternoon fell to mindless, comfortable banter and Kara’s contentment grew. The stress and hectic days prior began to fade away and she relaxed more as the afternoon wore on.

Kara’s mind began to wander. What would come next? How would they part? Should she ask him to come back and open another bottle of wine? Worry furrowed her brow and she jumped when his hand cupped her shoulder. His fingers traced up the column of her throat and pushed into the curls at her nape, massaging gently. The movement chased the worry from her.

“Mmm, that feels nice.” Kara smiled and faced him. She shivered in delight and he chuckled at her involuntary reaction.

“Cold?”

She shook her head and without a second thought leaned toward him. He encouraged her with a gentle pull. Their gazes stayed connected and just before their lips met, Kara’s eyelids fluttered close.

Her breath caught when he kissed her—chaste and gentle, but with an underlying power she longed to unleash. Kara craved it and kissed him back, opening her mouth to dart her tongue out and taste his. He met her with a sudden ferocity that liquefied her insides. She was helpless to him, her muscles slack and weak. If he didn’t have his arm around her, she would have dissolved into a puddle of passion at his feet.

Kara forgot where they were, all sense of place and time vanished. Her hand crept up to the back of his neck and her fingers played with his hair at the nape. Sound faded and Kara was only aware of him, nothing else. She sensed the sexual tension building in him and knew they should slow down before they embarrassed themselves in public. But she couldn’t stop and moved closer to him, needing the feel of his body next to hers.

The sharp ring and vibrating buzz of her cell phone on the metal table pierced the moment and she jolted away, almost panting. Kara couldn’t catch her breath and fumbled to grab the phone and flip it open. It was the bakery number.

“Hel—” Kara cleared the roughness from her throat and glanced at Max, who was flushed and wa
tching her intently. His dark gaze made promises she wanted him to keep. Kara looked away to try to rebalance herself. “Uhm, hello?”

“Hi, Kara.” It was Jilly, one of her co-op students. “Hey, are you all right?”

“Uh, sure. Why?”

“You sound kinda weird.”

Weird? No, just incredibly horny. “What do you need?” she asked a little too harshly and immediately regretted it.

“Oh, anyway, the health inspector is here.”

“What? Holy shit, I completely forgot.” Kara’s passion extinguished as if a bucket of cold water had been sloshed on her. “I’ll be right there.”

Kara quickly gathered her bags and turned to Max. “I gotta go. Totally forgot an appointment.” She cupped his cheek in her palm. “Thank you, it was a great afternoon.”

She stood and ignored the curious looks from the other patrons and dashed from the patio. As she rounded the wall of flowers, she glanced over her shoulder at Max. He leaned comfortably in his seat, his arm once again draped across the back of the chair she had been sitting in. He winked and smiled at her.

Holy crap.

That one simple and utterly sexy look totally reignited her passion for him. How could she possibly concentrate on a boring old health inspector now?

Part of this journey to becoming a published author is learning to share things about myself. I think it’s harder than writing! I’ve loved telling stories for most of my life and to create worlds I could escape into, living life as my characters do. I’m thrilled my debut novel, No Fantasy Required, released with Lyrical Press November 2010 was received with great reviews.

This August Being Ariana will be released by Lyrical Press. I can’t wait to share the story of Ariana’s adventures with you.

The first romance novel I read was at age twelve. I woke up Christmas morning to find Taylor Caldwell’s Ceremony of the Innocent in my stocking. I devoured it and my passion for reading began, followed on its heels by a longing to write.

Everyone has moments in their life that test them and I’m no different. Here I am today living my dream of becoming a published author and ready to experience all life has to offer.

I hope I can tempt and carry you along on a journey of passion to vivid locations with squirm in your seat plots and characters that will come to life for you, so you too can escape into another world.

When I’m not writing or the ideas are not percolating around in my head, I love to travel, spend time on a patio, preferably overlooking the water with a yummy cocktail in hand or lounged in a steamy hot tub, which could include a glass of red wine. I’m a single mom of two college-aged sons, one back at home after giving it a go in the big wide world and the other graduating from chef school this year. I said goodbye last summer to my faithful old Chocolate Lab, Mollie.

I’m tucked away in a small town outside Toronto where let my ideas run rampant to build into another hot a sexy story for you.

Full Disclosure

Book 1 of the Hunk De Jour Series

Thirty-eight-year-old divorcee Holly Burrows has had enough of battery-operated love. Prompted by an ad left at her law office, she investigates Hunk Du Jour, a website designed to foster "adult connections". After weeks of sexy emails and phone calls with surf hunk Kent, she’s ready to test their chemistry in person. But first she has to get through lunch with her colleague Alex, a man with a brain as agile as his body.

When their consultation ends with a bang, she barely remembers the man she’d lined up for dessert. Now she thinks she’s juggling two hot young guys. How can she choose between her two gorgeous cubs… and why do they remind her of each other?

Excerpt ~

His hair brushed his collar, messily kempt in its own wayward style. She doubted he’d seen a barber in quite a while. She also doubted Alex was the type of man who’d wince if she yanked his hair too hard during sex.

That sealed it for her, and placed the cherry red lipstick kiss on the envelope. After her sexually anemic ex-husband, she deserved a young stud. And hell, she’d make sure the young stud got a lil’ something out of the deal, too.

"It is."

After the waitress took Alex’s card, she rose, sure she seemed more confident than she felt. Her poker face had held her in good stead before, and it would now, too.

She’d simply act as if she were a sexy, voracious older woman who expected her every sexual demand to be met, and he’d never guess differently. He’d never guess her toes were curled in her sedate pumps, or that the back of her neck had already dampened, despite the air conditioning.

He’d never guess, and she would never tell.

She slid her hand down the strap of her bag. Coquettishly, she hoped. "Your place or mine?"

Alex stared up at her. There could be no debating the hue of his eyes now, a pure, rich green. Her heart skipped, much to her chagrin, but she couldn’t help it.

Had a man ever looked at her in quite that way before? As if he’d assessed every inch of her, and she’d come up a winner in every category?

What a heady feeling. And scary as hell.

He signed the credit card slip when it was presented to him and thanked the waitress. Then he stood beside her, drawing her gaze up to his sculpted jaw and the sexy cleft in his chin. He was taller than her five-ten by a good four inches. Maybe five.

Another huge plus. There weren’t a lot of guys who made her feel small—okay, smaller—but Alex did.

Of course, she’d taken note of his height in the office. Not the only thing she’d noticed. He also filled out a pair of well-cut trousers quite nicely. But she’d pretended not to notice, just as she pretended now to be unmoved by the heat of his hand as he touched her arm. Just that single contact, his fingers on her wrist, tightened her nipples to painful nubs.

Come to Mama.

"Let’s go to your place. I want to see where you live." His gaze skipped over her face and continued down over her discreetly displayed cleavage in a way that was more proprietary than proper. "Where you sleep."

When his fingers crept under the sleeve of her jacket and brushed her thrumming pulse, she gave him a flirty smile. She so could do this. In fact, if she didn’t take full advantage of this experience, she’d kick herself for the rest of her days.

"Where I won’t be sleeping tonight," she said softly.
